Esu Tunmise (eh-shoo toon-mi-shea)

Esu Tunmise is an initiated Esu Olorisa (Priest of Esu, also spelled Eshu). He was initiated Olorisa by Obaloroke Obatala Agbaiye. Esu Tunmise is our primary business owner-operator, and can be emailed at esu@esuabita.com.

Esu Tunmise (a.k.a. Tyler) came to Ifa Isese after significant experience in other spiritual modalities including western ceremonial magic, postmodern/chaos magic, various forms of natural magic, and a childhood of Folk Catholicism. He relocated to Arizona from New Orleans, Louisiana, where he worked as a card reader for multiple French Quarter establishments. Under his Vodou Manbo, Tyler also received excellent training on the running of spiritual supply businesses by assisting Manbo Glassman in the operation of New Orleans' well-regarded and longstanding Island of Salvation Botanica.

Tyler offers cartomancy with a special emphasis on practical, predictive, strategic divination. Many of his clients are entrepreneurs, creatives, or career-minded. He uses a highly dynamic combination of Tarot and Lenormand to obtain as much granular, actionable information as possible. Practitioner peers also seek his consultation to gain clarity on how to structure their practice, ritual work, and mindset in service of obtaining their spiritual objectives. He offers astrology chart readings, and has special interest in Fixed Stars, Zodiacal Releasing, and Astrocartography. He often incorporates information from a person's Bazi (Chinese Astrology) chart to understand their temperament and life trajectory.

Esu Tunmise offers Orisa readings under the guidance of his elders, serves as Esu Olorisa for Ifa and Orisa ceremonies, and contributes to the training of newer initiates. Previously, he was trained in psychotherapy and practiced in the community setting for around a decade. His spiritual mentorship is deeply informed by the humanistic principles and ethics of that discipline.

Outside of Ifa/Orisa practice, Esu Tunmise is passionate about applying existing occult knowledge in novel ways; guided by divination and experimentation, Esu Tunmise seeks to respect traditional foundations while also applying himself to the creation of new spiritual products and methods, geared toward purposes poorly addressed by existing techniques.
